Description

photo They say that Binna Burra Mountain lodge is not just a place.....it's a spirit. A spirit of tranquility that waits for you by misty mountain pools and at breathtaking lookouts....A spirit of well-being that rejuvinates your soul as you breathe in the clear mountain air....A spirit of adventure that challenges your personal limits as you abseil from a clifftop.....And a spirit of friendship and camaraderie
that stays with you long after you've returned to the real world.

Hidden amidst lush rainforest at the gateway to World Heritage listed Lamington National Park, Queensland Tourism award winning Binna Burra Mountain Lodge invites guests to discover the wonders of the wilderness. Located just one hour's drive from the Gold Coast and 90 minutes drive from Brisbane, transfers are available.

Binna Burra Mountain Lodge was founded in 1933 by two pioneering conservationists, who's vision was to create a place where people could stay and experience the beauty of the rainforest- a vision which has been enjoyed by generations of nature-lovers, adventure-seekers and environmentalists for more than 60 years.

The area abounds with native wildlife all year round. Echoing through dense canopy overhead, you'll hear the call of beautiful coloured birds, while our resident ornithologist can help you find some of Australia's rarest birds. Goannas, scrub, turkeys and pademelon wallabies show no fear of visitors.

Bushwalking: Our daily program of activities features interpretive walks and birdwatching expeditions in the National Park, escorted by our fully qualified guides. There is always a choice of one full day or two half day walks or we can pack a picnic lunch and track map if you would like to explore on your own.

Adventure: Lamington National Park offers a host of challenges for the thrillseeker. The rocky crags and sheer cliff faces are ideal for absailing our instructors will help you tackle beginner, intermediate or advance sessions. Try out our High and Low Ropes Courses or soar through the forest on our Flying Fox one of the longest in the southern hemisphere.

Children are also well catered for "The Discovery Forest", the younger set will love our adventure playground and they will be learning about the environment at the same time. The playground features a host of activities, including a 'scratch - and - sniff' forest, cubby house, a three dimensional maze, bridges, ladders, swings, caves and tree stumps all designed to help them experience the rainforest ecosystem. Special activities programs 'Just for Kids' are also available during the Queensland and New South Wales school holidays.

In the evening curl up with a good book in front of a roaring log fire; learn more about the rainforest at one of our slide or film presentations; catch owls on a guided spotlighting adventure; join in the old-fashioned fun of parlour games; or get into the toe-tapping rhythm of our weekly bush dances.

After all that bracing mountain air and exercise, you will be more that ready for Binna Burra's famous country style cooking. Meals are served in our cliff top Dinning Room with sweeping views of the Coomers Valley, and our communal seating arrangements give you a great opportunity to meet and mingle with fellow guests. Tariffs include all meals - that's breakfast, lunch dinner, morning and afternoon tea, and a late night supper - and we often host a traditional bush breakfast al fresco style. Each meal includes vegetarian dishes and our chef is happy to cater for special dietary requirements on request.

Delightful timber and stone cabins provide three levels of accommodation to suite any budget requirements, with famous country style meals and activities included in your cost.

Conference and Incentive groups alike have found Binna Burra's tranquil environment to be the perfect location to host a special event that delegates in your memory for years to come.

Binna Burra Mountain Lodge is the first (and to day, the only) Gold Coast operator who has been recognised with an Advanced Eco-tourism Accreditation awarded by the Eco-tourism Association of Australia.

You'll stay in rustic mountain cabins hidden in the rainforest. The original mountain cabins built from hand-cut tallow wood slabs, are still in use, refitted with modern amenities and facilities.

Binna Burra offers three styles of accommodation.

Acacia Cabins have private amenities, mini bar, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and panoramic views of the Numinbah Valley.

Casuarina Cabins sleep 4 to 6 people and are ideal for budget family or group holidays. Fully tiled amenities with spa bath are located nearby.

Throughout the year, Binna Burra Mountain Lodge hosts a series of Special Interest Programs designed to enhance your experience of this World Heritage listed wilderness area.
