Built in 1883 by well known architect Charles Webb, The Windsor (originally The Grand Hotel and then The Grand Coffee Palace) is one of Australia's few grand hotels and the only one that remains of this era. Oberoi Hotels acquired the management rights of The Windsor in 1980 and subsequently purchased the property from the Victorian Government in 1990, assuring that in conjunction with the property's National Trust Classification, The Windsor would be preserved.
