How to go about planning your holiday

Australia is a lot larger than most people think. The most common holiday mistake is trying to cover too much distance with not enough time. Whilst exploring by car or campervan is a great way to see the countryside and meet local Australian characters, you need to think about how long your vacation is and what are your 'must see' priorities. There are really 4 main options for transportation whilst in Australia/New Zealand:

1) Air Travel within Australia
Air Travel within Australia has never been cheaper with three airlines Qantas, Virgin Blue and Jetstar competing on major routes. It is easy to make reservations via the internet.

2) Car/Campervan hire
You can rent vehicles and travel from point to point which is an excellent way to get off the commercial tourist track. The other option is hire in each destination so you can explore independently.

3) Rail
This is not only a means of transport but a very popular way of seeing the country especially the rugged outback e.g: The legendary Ghan and the Indian Pacific.

4) Coach touring
If you want to sit back, relax and enjoy in depth commentary this is a wonderful way of travelling between cities.

I should mention at this point that if the thought of planning your own itinerary is not really how you want to spend your spare time, we have an itinerary planning service. Many of our busy clients use this service and if you can give us just a few details about your interests/budget/number of people etc. we can tailor make a holiday for your approval.

Please use our Itinerary Builder to assist you plan your trip or to make multiple reservations. It will open in a new window so you can add hotel, tour and car hire information while you are browsing the Travel Mall.

If you have a personal favourite from your holiday we'd love to hear from you.
