The Whitsundays
Protected by the natural shelter of the Great Barrier Reef and close to the coastal centres of Airlie Beach and Shute Harbour are the Whitsunday Group of islands. Some islands contain luxurious resorts yet most are uninhabited. Even on the resort islands you will find secluded beaches where you can swim in crystal clear water. The region has also earned a reputation as a world class yacht-charter captial so you can find your own deserted beach to moor at after the days sailing adventure.

To reach the Whitsundays you can fly directly onto Hamilton Island where you can then transfer to other islands or into Prosperine on the mainland. Further south from the Whitsunday Group you will find Heron island which can be accessed from the mainland airport of Gladstone respectively.
