From its Aboriginal and later European origins, the city has grown into a fresh, modem capital with parks and gardens dotting the suburbs and even the city centre. There is something for all tastes whether it be the arts, shopping or fine dining.
Brisbane's excellent facilities, luxurious hotels, modem infrastructure plus the attractions of fine food, good shopping and a rich choice of arts and entertainment, combine to create the ideal choice for a convention venue. Add to that the treasure trove of holiday options for delegates to enjoy pre or post conference tours and you have the perfect mix for your next convention or event destination.
Moreton Bay is Brisbane's water playground with plenty to see and do. The bay is protected from the big ocean swells and offers game fishing for marlin in the southern part of the bay and diving in the crystal clear waters, where one can explore old wrecks near Moreton Island.
At the southern end of Moreton Bay is South Stradbroke. Like its sister island of North Stradbroke, this is a sand island with long ocean beaches and calm bay side areas, including a newly developed eco-resort.
North Stradbroke shields much of the southern part of Moreton Bay and the smaller islands from the ocean swells. North Stradbroke attracts anglers and holiday-makers to the Island's generous beaches and natural beauty. The island's National Park includes the Blue Lake (formed from a depression below the water table) and the Tortoise Lagoon.
In the northern parts of the state the hot/wet season is between November and May, particularly in January, Feburary and March where daily temperatures reach around 35C to 40C. In the southern parts of the state Brisbane and other major cities average around 450mm of rain in the hot/wet season with temperatures rarely droping into the 20C's.
In the cool/dry season the state still has relatively warm temperatures compared to the rest of Australia during the months of June to October. Temperatures hardly drop below 20C and the nights are still warm as well unless you are in the inland/outback regions of the state where it can be cold during the nights.
