This region is most popular in the winter months as it is the ski season and people travel from every where to join in the activities. The most popular places to ski are the following ski resorts Threbo, Perisher Blue, Mt Selwyn and Charlottes Pass. Although skiing is a big attraction to this region there is plenty of other things to see and do in the towns of Jindabyne, Cooma, Tumut and Adaminaby. Jindabyne has the attraction of being located on the edge of a man made lake, which covers the old town of Jindabyne. During the summer the lake is a great place to go boating and even swimming. Cooma has attractions such as Horse riding, the Avenue of Flags, and the Snowy Mountains Information Centre. Tumut is a great place to visit to see the Snowy Mountains Hydroelectric Scheme, the biggest trout farm in Australia at Blowering Dam, the Yarrangobilly Caves and just to the south the town of Batlow is an interesting place to visit as it is a big fruit growing area. The main attraction in the Snowy Mountains is Kosciuszko National Park, it is here that no matter what season it is there is always something to do, whether it is skiing, bush walks, mountain bike riding or picnics.
