The Sunshine Coast is another great destination in Queensland for a coastal holiday. In the south of this region is the Glass House Mountains, which holds some spectacular scenery and a great way to start visiting this region. Moving further north is the towns of Caloundra, Mooloolaba and Maroochydore, where there are attractions such as Queenslands Air Museum, Aussie World and the Ettemogah Pub and an excellent underwater world.

The town of Noosa is the biggest tourist town on the Sunshine Coast. It is here you can find the spectacular Noosa National Park and spend time on some beautiful beaches. To the north of Noosa is the Cooloola Coast, which is a remote but outstanding stretch of long sandy beaches backed by the Cooloola National Park. Along the Cooloola Coast you will find attractions such as Lake Cooroibah, Boreen Point and the Cooloola National Park.

The Fraser Coast is located north of the Sunshine Coast and the tourists’ focal point in this are is the majestic Fraser Island, the worlds largest sand island. The most popular places to visit on the island include Lake Wabby, Lake McKenzie, Lake Garawongera, The Cathedrals, Indian Head, Orchid Beach and Sand Cape. The island is also great for four wheel driving and bushwalks.

Back on the main land the Fraser Coast is home to attractions such as Woodworks Forestry and Timber Museum in Gympie, Rainbow Beach and Maryborough. Harvey Bay is the biggest tourist centre on the mainland and here you can see Harvey Bay Nature World, Vic Hislop’s Great White Shark Expo, Neptune’s Reef World and many tours to see whales and Aboriginal Tours.
